Before you write in
These four cover almost everything people ask about.
My data disappeared
Your entries live in a database inside AppSpend's own storage on your iPhone — there is no online copy. In practice there are only a few ways for them to go missing: the app was deleted and reinstalled, the phone was reset or restored to factory settings, or you moved to a new device without restoring from a backup.
If you deleted an app entry by accident, the undo button that appears right after the swipe is the only way back. Once it has gone, it has gone.
If the app is still installed and your library looks empty anyway, that is a bug rather than expected behaviour. Please email us before deleting or reinstalling, because reinstalling destroys whatever is still there and makes the problem impossible to diagnose.
How do I delete everything?
Delete AppSpend from your iPhone. Touch and hold the app icon, choose Remove App, then Delete App. iOS removes the app's local database at the same time.
That is the whole process — there is no account to close and nothing to request from us, because we never had a copy in the first place.
It is also permanent. Nobody, including the developer, can bring your entries back, so note down anything you want to keep before you delete.
How do I change the currency?
Open the Settings tab and change the currency there. It updates the symbol shown next to every figure in the app.
It relabels your amounts rather than converting them: no exchange rate is applied, because the app does not fetch one. If you are genuinely switching currencies, re-enter the prices that matter to you.
I paid for Pro but the app is not unlocked
Open the paywall and tap Restore, at the top right. That asks Apple, from your device, what you have already bought and re-applies it. It is also what to use on a new iPhone, or after reinstalling — as long as you are signed in to the same Apple Account you bought it with.
If Restore does not find it, check Settings → your name → Subscriptions on your iPhone. If the subscription is not listed as active there, the purchase either did not complete or has expired, and Apple is the place to check: your purchase history and any refund request are handled at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Billing, renewals and refunds all sit with Apple rather than with us — we cannot see your purchase, charge you or refund you. If the subscription is active in Settings and the app still shows ads after a restart, that is a bug and we would like to hear about it.
Why doesn't it track my screen time automatically?
Because iOS does not let it. Screen Time data is not available to ordinary apps, and reading how long you spend in other apps is not something a third-party app can do without the kind of permissions this app deliberately avoids.
So usage in AppSpend is what you record yourself. You enter a daily time for an app, and the app rolls that up into weekly, monthly and yearly totals and into the usage statistics.
If you want the numbers to be accurate, iOS's own Screen Time report is a good place to copy them from once a week.
Reporting a problem
A bug report that includes the following can usually be diagnosed on the first reply rather than the fourth. Please include:
- Your iOS version — Settings → General → About → Software Version.
- The AppSpend version, shown at the bottom of the Settings tab.
- Your iPhone model.
- What you did, what you expected, and what happened instead.
- A screenshot, if the problem is something you can see.
Please do not send screenshots containing anything you would rather keep private — the app is on your phone, so nothing is ever needed from your data to look into a bug.

Suggestions are genuinely welcome, particularly ones that come with the reason behind them — knowing what you were trying to do is far more useful than knowing which button you wanted.

AppSpend keeps your library on your phone and collects nothing itself. What the ads in the free version collect, and how the Pro purchase is handled, is set out in full in the Privacy Policy. How costs are estimated, how the Pro subscription is billed and cancelled, and what the app can and cannot do about your own subscriptions, is covered in the Terms of Use.
